One line below another. It's what lies underneath.
The opposite of 上. As a verb: 下车 (to get off a vehicle). It also means 'below' (桌子下). In time, it marks 'next' (下星期, next week).
猫在桌子下。
Māo zài zhuōzi xià.
The cat is under the table.
