Radical 月 (moon, flesh) + 又 (hand). To have, to exist. It originally showed a hand holding a piece of meat — to possess something.
Negated with 没: 没有 (to not have). 有 is one of the most basic verbs. It's also in expressions like '有人' (there's someone) and '有趣' (interesting, literally 'to have interest').
