女 (woman) + 子 (child). Having a woman (mother) with her child was seen as something good and desirable in ancient China.
Besides 'good', it's used to ask 'how are you?' in 你好 (hello). It's also part of the verb 爱好 (àihào), 'hobby' — literally 'to love as good'.
