Radical 口 + 那 (that). The particle that asks about place or choice — literally 'which of those'.
In northern China people say 哪儿 (nǎr) with the trailing 'r'. In the south, 哪里 (nǎlǐ) is preferred. Both are correct. The colloquial pronunciation of 哪 can vary between nǎ and něi.
